Company’s Achievements

Concepts International, Inc. was founded in 1988 to be a supplier in automotive product development.

Founder Giuliano Zuccato brings 42 years of experience in the field, 31 years at the Ford Motor Company Design Center as a design modeler and system designer. Giuliano Zuccato is the holder of three US Patents in model making; one patent was granted jointly with the Ford Motor Company.

The Company has the knowledge and ability to manage any projects that may involve the development of a vehicle from a clay concept to an engineering-for-manufacturing model.

For the past 11 years Concepts International has worked as a supplier for Ford Motor, DaimlerChrysler, General Motors Company, Lear Corporation and has competed internationally on projects with model making houses in Germany, England, Italy and Japan.

The Company was awarded a project from Daewoo (Korea) to generate a market research property, the see through model was fabricated by NC cutting the exterior surface using CDRS data and was delivered in 6 weeks time.

Concepts International has concentrated its efforts to exploring innovative methodologies in order to expedite the design process and has created engineering for manufacturing properties on programs for the Dodge Ram, Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Durango and Dakota; and was contracted by CTC Wind Tunnel Operations to design and build a system to reduce the weight on clay models that included a lift mechanism to facilitate body positioning.

Giuliano Zuccato has considerable experience in building wind tunnel test models and has worked at the following wind tunnel testing facilities:

Lockheed Martin:

Jeep Cherokee and Probe IV and V record breaker for the lowest CD for a passenger car .

University of Maryland:

Mustang IMSA GTP reduced scale clay model that required a 360 degrees rotation mechanism for underbody development. This model was duplicated as a full size drivable vehicle and has participated in worldwide races.

University of Michigan:

Base-line data (durable surface reduced scale models).

University of Stuttgart Germany:

Dodge Ram water management, wind noise and seal testing.

On the Jeep Cherokee Acoustic Aero test property, the model was fabricated from math data that included the chassis, floor panels, revised suspension, simulation of engine and under hood components, panel outers and acoustic chamber. The duration of the project was seven weeks.

Several thermo development properties were built as drivable vehicles for in house handling.

In 1984 as a Ford Motor Company employee Giuliano Zuccato was instrumental in the creation of Concept 2000X, a studio within the Design Center for the purpose of exploring new ideas in model building and concept development by using the computer.

Some work done as a System Designer within this studio include:

  • A model making process that allows for the fabrication in a durable material of the interior and the exterior surfaces in combination. This process was used to generate a market research property for the Lincoln Machete.

  • Evaluation of a 3/8 scale model as a full size by the use of video technologies and the projection on a full size screen to be viewed in a showroom turntable setting as well as drivable.

  • Graphics to illustrate the feasibility in materializing math data into a plastic model by the use of a ultraviolet sensitive polymer. A video of these graphics shows how a full size vehicle is generated without the need of conventional tooling.

  • Simultaneously a Company in California developed and patented the idea to become known as Stereolithography

  • Research for outsourcing, from model making to virtual reality to cinematography visual special effects.

  • Involved in teaching clay sculpting for design in transportation to students at Brigham Young University.

  • Worked with model making suppliers in Turin Italy and technology transfer at the Ghia facility.
